FINALLY!!! This mix started mid December and has been finished for the last three weeks. The delay was getting the motivation to whip up a CD Cover which, in the end, was a botch up that took a couple of hours playing around. I didn't really like this mix the first few listens, mainly because it goes all over the place. And I wasn't really a big fan of Stefani's new stuff (so why did I include it then???) but now I quite like it.
Oh, and sorry for the lack of posts lately. Was in a little bit of a slump for the last couple of months. Not quite ready to hit the blog hard, though, am only prepared to take little steps. Figure that a new mix would be a good way to start again.

To celebrate the launch of the new site, I've done a new mix. It's very, er, *club* but it gets a little bit edgier near the end. Anyway, if you don't like it, tough! But I hope you still check out the site...
Notes about the mix:
- I quite like Madonna's newly released album track Get Together but didn't feel like I could use any of the mixes. But this mix of Jump sounds alot better than the album version, it's great what a little bpm increase can do!
- I'm really into Coldplay dance mixes at the moment, they've got such catchy riffs!
- I actually prefer this Bob Sinclar track to Love Generation. I dunno, I guess it's because this one doesn't try as hard to be so feel good.
- Considering the number of tracks that have sampled it, it's about bloody time someone re-released it in its own right, albeit remixed. Strangely, though, it kind of sounds like a mashup, one moment its all "Black Box" the next it's all "Marky Mark". hehe. It's almost as if all of those samplers used Holloway's vocals better than her producers did...
- Seany B, whoever he is, totally shits me. Very Unattractive Man. I had to mix something else over the top to distract me from him...
Enjoy. It won't be here for long...
PS Good luck to the crew of Space Shuttle Discovery for their very own Launch.

This mix was probably finished about three weeks ago but I've only just recently decided that this would be the final version. It's just that in that time I've tried to make changes to the mix but ended up not liking it so undid them. The main problem was when I mixed the Pussycat Dolls with Freeform Five: it sounds interesting only for a short time then I get bored. But I really wanted to have a *new* song in there (I started the mix a few weeks before Madonna released her new single, complete with remixes, in Australia but the mix took so long the remix has since been flogged to death) and there was nothing decent to fill it in. I had tried to fit Vandalism's Never Say Never but it didn't really mix into New Order well and I really wanted to keep those tracks in.
The New Order Jetstream section is a bit much but I especially like the Richard X remix of the track though I think for the general listener it may be too much. Also, it's a bit odd but I really like the ending, it goes on some crazy tangent and ends up with a mad rocking bouncy-breaks of a tune. It can't all sound like a night out at the Xchange! Probably my favourite moment was when Gloria turns the beat around and knocks Dannii out of the picture. I mean, what's up with her laying her voice over random instrumental club tracks anyway? The only problem is that I've played that section to death and I'm a bit over it now.
In fact, that's the big problem. I've spent so much time on the mix, and I've listened to it to death on my iPod to make sure it sounds okay, that I've just gotten sick of it. It's only just been finished and I'm over it already.
PT likes it, though. He's the only other person to have heard the mix.
Anyway, here's the tracklisting:
1. Kelly Clarkson vs Depeche Mode vs Rex The Dog - Since U Been Gahan (DJ Earworm mashup)
2. Coldplay - Speed of Sound (C-64 Remix)
3. Madonna - Sorry (Pet Shop Boys Maxi Mix)
4. Dannii Minogue & The Soul Seekers - Perfection
5. Gloria Estefan - Turn The Beat Around
6. Missy Elliott - Lose Control (Jacques Lu Cont Mix)

8. Mylo - Muscle Car (Freeform Five Remix)
9. Mylo - Muscle Car (Sander Kleinenberg Pace Car Mix)
10. Freeform Five - No More Conversations
11. Rogue Traders - Watching You (James Ash's Club Mix)
12. Pussycat Dolls ft Will I Am vs Freeform Five - Beeeaaoowwp

Start The Dance 3

As with the last mix, my intention was to complete this compilation on tour as well. Had I actually copied the required files onto my laptop I could have done it. It's been difficult since getting back from tour to finish it because of all the time I've spent with JPB. One weekend I resorted to perservering with the laptop (at half the normal amount of memory because, post new hard drive installation, it simply doesn't like having more than one stick of memory in it) at JPB to get it done, only to find that I didn't like what I did.
Anyway, I've been wanting to do a mix of nineties house and garage tunes and, prior to the tour, it was going really well. I'd gotten my hands on a whole bunch of acapellas, I was raring to go. But I just can't seem to quite get it right. I love it from Hideaway to Deeper And Deeper, and the mashup of Britney with Size 9's "I'm Ready" seems to work pretty well (although I'm sure that a more talented masher would be able to do a better, crazier job). I'm also happy about ending it with C&C Music Factory's "Just A Touch Of Love", which was my overall favourite song of 1990. I haven't decided if Vanilla Ice really fits where it is, the two *songs* after Deeper and Deeper seem like a cop-out, and I was really hoping that I could fit in Crystal Waters' "100% Pure Love" in there somewhere (maybe over the top of Aretha Franklin).
Quite possibly I was aiming for something more than I'm capable of. Hopefully by the time I get to Start The Dance 20 I'll get it right.
Tracklisting:
1. (Intro)
2. Beyonce - Work It Out
3. Sub Sub ft Melanie Williams - Ain't No Love, Ain't No Use
4. Snap - The Power
5. Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
6. De'Lacy - Hideaway
7. C&C Music Factory - Do You Wanna Get Funky
8. Black Box - Strike It Up
9. Livin' Joy - Dreamer
10. Aretha Franklin - A Deeper Love
11. Aretha Franklin - A Deeper Mix
12. Madonna - Deeper And Deeper
13. Eve Gallagher - You Can Have It All
14. Robin S - Show Me Love
15. Britney Spears - I'm A Slave 4 U
16. Staxx - Joy
17. Black Box - Everybody Everybody
18. C&C Music Factory - Just A Touch Of Love (Everyday)
In there is M People "Open Your Heart" and Size 9 "I'm Ready", not to mention multiple mixes of the listed tracks all mixed up.

Club SP
Posted July 14th, 2005 by jhunyWhilst on tour I commenced work on this mix only to see my laptop hard drive roll over and die. Perhaps it died of eighties overload. I almost did as well; that's why the mix does a bit of a switch in the middle somewhere. If anything, it's a mix of ideas that never quite get there (wherever *there* is). It was initially going to be a birthday gift to PT but ended up being completed in time for ST's birthday (I ended up giving the CDs to both of them). It was PT's initial idea for me to do an eighties mix like this but the final two-sided nature of the mix came to me while I was out with ST (at The Beat). The title refers to a conversation we had at Spoon in Fortitude Valley envisioning a new promotions company led by SP and PS, calling it SP Management. My idea was to hijack their concept, replacing them with two completely different people, and including the graphic design that they were planning to use, except that I didn't think I had appropriate pictures (ACTUALLY, now that I think about it, I DO HAVE APPROPRIATE PICTURES!) In the end, the title was confusing for the recipients and the mix goes all the way around and finishes nowhere. But it's become the Official Sound Track to my bus trip to the Opera House for work.
Track listing:
1. Red Kult vs Mike and the Mechanics - Miracle
2. Eric Prydz - Call On Me
3. Cabin Crew - Star 2 Fall
4. Mylo - In My Arms (Sharam Jey Remix)
5. Armand Van Helden - Into Your Eyes (The Droyds Delinquent Remix)
6. Armand Van Helden - Into Your Eyes (Sant and Matteo Esse Remix)

8. Max Graham vs Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart (Club Mix)
9. Max Graham vs Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart (Future Funk Mix)

(Sick of the eighties yet?)

12. Body Rockers vs Rogue Traders - I Like The Way You Voodoo
13. Scissor Sisters - Filthy Gorgeous (tone396 Mix)
